Attribute Mapping is the design and execution of rules that transform, normalize, concatenate, filter, or route identity attributes from authoritative sources into the schema expected by directories, applications, cloud platforms, or downstream repositories. Typical mapped values include names, usernames, email addresses, cost centers, managers, departments, employee types, organization units, and locale data. Attribute mapping is not merely a technical formatting exercise; it often determines entitlement logic, routing behavior, ownership semantics, and target account uniqueness. Poor mapping quality can produce broken provisioning, duplicate accounts, inconsistent identity data, or authorization defects.
