The repeated reassessment of trust during an access session instead of only at login time.
Definition
Continuous trust evaluation means that trust is not frozen at the moment of authentication. Identity assurance, behavior, context, and risk can be reassessed while access is ongoing. This supports adaptive control, reauthentication, dynamic restriction, and session termination when the risk changes.
Why it matters
Continuous trust evaluation replaces one-time login decisions with ongoing assessment of identity, device, and context signals. It is the runtime mechanism that makes Zero Trust operational rather than theoretical.
