Privileged access management
Privileged Account
A Privileged Account is an account whose rights are sufficient to cause major damage if misused or compromised.
Definition
A Privileged Account is an account that has enough power over systems, data, infrastructure, or production capabilities that its misuse or compromise could significantly affect the information system. The notion is context-dependent, but the key criterion is impact, not simply job title or technical naming.
The Ariovis perspective
Least privilege is an operating model, not a one-off cleanup. Access must be justified, limited in scope and duration, traceable and removable when the context changes.
