Federation
SAML Assertion
A SAML Assertion is a signed identity statement sent from an identity provider to a service provider in a federated login flow.
Definition
A SAML Assertion is the structured payload that conveys authentication information, identity attributes, and possibly authorization-related claims from an identity provider to a service provider. It is the core trust object that allows the service provider to create a session without authenticating the user itself.
The Ariovis perspective
Federation is an architecture choice, not a product checkbox. Ariovis assesses protocols, trust relationships, application constraints and migration paths before defining the target.
