Definition
An Access Request is a structured demand initiated by a user, manager, sponsor, system owner, or automated process to obtain, modify, extend, or renew access to a resource. In identity governance and provisioning workflows, access requests may target roles, entitlements, application accounts, elevated privileges, or temporary permissions. A mature access request process includes clear catalog items, business justification, approval routing, policy checks, SoD validation, fulfillment tracking, and audit history. The request process acts as a governance gateway before provisioning occurs.
