Application Onboarding

Application Onboarding is the structured process of connecting a new application to the IAM control model for authentication, identity lifecycle, and access governance.

Definition

Application Onboarding is the process of bringing an application into the IAM operating model so that authentication, identity propagation, access assignment, and governance controls become managed in a consistent way. In practice, onboarding quality depends on protocol compatibility, identity storage behavior, provisioning capability, and the level of local access logic that remains inside the target application.

The Ariovis perspective

Application onboarding should become a repeatable service with clear prerequisites, integration patterns, acceptance criteria and documentation. Connecting applications one by one without a standard creates long-term debt.
