Federation

Circle of Trust

A Circle of Trust is the trust relationship that allows service providers to rely on an external identity provider for authentication.

Definition

A Circle of Trust is the federation relationship through which one or more service providers accept identity information issued by a trusted identity provider. It allows authentication to be delegated while preserving controlled access to applications and services across organizational or technical boundaries.
