Authentication Statement

An Authentication Statement is the part of a SAML assertion that describes how and when the user was authenticated.

Definition

An Authentication Statement records the fact that the subject was authenticated and provides identity-verification context such as timing and authentication class information. It helps the service provider understand the authentication event that underpins the federated session.

The Ariovis perspective

Federation is an architecture choice, not a product checkbox. Ariovis assesses protocols, trust relationships, application constraints and migration paths before defining the target.
