Flat Network
A flat network is an environment with weak segmentation, enabling broad movement across systems after compromise.
Definition
A flat network is a network architecture in which users, administrators, devices, or workloads can move too easily across technical zones once initial access is obtained. It conflicts with Zero Trust and privileged access principles because it increases lateral movement opportunities and reduces containment.
