IAM Hypercare
IAM hypercare is the period of heightened monitoring and support that follows a significant go-live, before operations return to their normal level.
- Synonym
- stabilisation periodwarranty period
Definition
Also called the stabilisation period, hypercare temporarily maintains a higher level of attention after a structural deployment: close monitoring of flows, fast handling of anomalies, support for users and service desk, tuning of rules and thresholds, capitalisation on observed incidents and gradual handover to business-as-usual operations. It is defined in advance by a duration, exit indicators, a named team and clear escalation channels. Ending it is a decision, not simply the calendar running out.
Why it matters
The weeks after an IAM go-live concentrate most functional anomalies — precisely the ones testing could not reproduce.
The Ariovis perspective
Go-live is not a magic border between project and run. A stabilisation period lets the system and the teams absorb the reality of production before returning to a normal level of support.
Common pitfalls
- A common mistake is sizing hypercare on an arbitrary duration, with no indicators to decide when it can stop.
