Legacy role rigidity is the situation in which static role models become too inflexible to support real operational needs.

Legacy role rigidity appears when a traditional role model cannot express enough granularity, exception handling, time-bound access, or data-sensitive authorization. This often leads teams to create side channels, hidden manual processes, or uncontrolled exceptions outside the official IAM model.
